MI ELECTRIC SCOOTER PAVING THE WAY FOR SMART TRANSPORTATION

In 2011, Wang Ye, founder and CEO of Ninebot, was surprised at the number of electric scooters he saw when traveling to Southern Europe.
Wang Ye, founder and CEO of Ninebot
He realized that other than motorcycles and electric bikes, personal mobility devices have become a smart solution in highly congested urban areas.
Though motor and electric bikes have their own strengths, electric scooters beat them in at least two ways. First, electric scooters are lighter – normally weighing between 10-15 kg. Second, they are foldable and easy to maneuver in crowded cities.
In Europe, especially Southern and Western Europe, electric scooters are very popular, particularly because automobiles are restricted from entering downtown areas of many European cities.
Today, the market volume for electric scooters across the globe is 3 to 5 million units.
And a large part of this demand comes from China. In large Chinese metropolitans like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, electric scooters are more popular than in smaller cities and towns. The reasons are obvious: heavier traffic and a faster pace of life. Besides, motor bikes are forbidden in main areas in several large cities, while electric bikes are not as convenient as electric scooters.
Mi Electric Scooter
You’ve probably heard of Ninebot, because our popular self-balancing scooter was made by this company and carries its brand, but you might not know that this is also the portfolio company in Mi Ecosystem that’s behind our Mi Electric Scooter.
Ninebot is a Beijing-based company and  merged with Segway in 2015, the US-based, world-leading, personal mobility device maker in 2015. Xiaomi is one of the major investors of Ninebot.
Because of its experience and resources, Wang decided to further tap Xiaomi’s distribution network of leading suppliers in order to branch out further into the last-mile smart transportation industry.
Beautiful and smart
At that time, there were already many electric scooters in the market, but the Ninebot team wanted to make something unique.
“After a great deal of product research, we believe we’ve created something unique to the marketplace, blending award-winning style with superior performance that stands out among the competition,” said Wang.”
Wang said the goal of the Mi Electric Scooter was to be beautiful and smart. As Xiaomi’s Mi Ecosystem products have unique industrial design style and strict ID standards, the manufacturing team experimented multiple times to optimize the electric scooter’s design. The painting procedure alone had over 30 tests to achieve the right look. For these efforts, the product has received the coveted Best of the Best of the Red Dot Design Award and the Good Design Best 100 Award.
Practicality is also key to the Mi Electric scooter. To figure out the best riding experience, Ninebot bought 50-60 different types of electric scooters for research. As a result, its highly durable tires can ride for 5000 km, or 250 hours, for a continuous high speed of 20 km/hour. As the scooter’s tires do not come in a standard size, we equip all our global versions with one to two extra tires and tools for replacing.
Like other smart Mi Ecosystem products, Mi Electric Scooter can be remotely controlled by an app via Bluetooth. When it is paired with the app, users can track their average riding speed, distance of their latest ride, their cycling habits, as well as remaining power of the scooter.
With such developments in the transportation industry, we are optimistic about the future of mobility, as it becomes even more innovative and intuitive on the road, providing more possibilities to explore the world.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN AN INMOTION V5F AND V8?

InMotion has emerged in the Electric Unicycle market as an industry leader. Among its smaller wheels are the V5F and V8. Although the two machines are great in their own right, there are some key differences between them that separate them. In this article, we will be talking about some key spec differences, as well as different features and riding abilities. Before we get into specifics, let's break down some shared strengths:
Bonuses to InMotion Unicycles
·         Compatible with the new Solowheel / Inmotion App for iOS and Android, riders have access to live-stats, calibration, diagnostics, and much more.
·         IP55 Weatherproof rating
·         Smooth acceleration and braking
·         Both machines can climb an 18 degree slope with ease

The G2 is a great introductory electric unicycle with features that demo what the upper market looks like. It has some improved speed and range compared to AirWheel products. It can go up to 25 km/h and travel up to 40 km in excellent circumstances. As with the G3, there is a killswitch when you need to bring the machine up or down steps. With a 14-inch wheel air tire you are low enough to the ground to feel comfortable at slower speeds, and to start acceleration from stationary. Since the machine is lighter than the heavy duty EUC’s, the machine is very agile and is easier to turn in my own experience on flat outdoor surfaces. This means it is also more portable to bring on to public transportation or fit into a car trunk.
The padding on the G2 is higher up and larger than the V8 so it is a very comfortable ride, but the speakers are much smaller on this machine. Unlike the G3, the G2 does not have a built-in handle system, although it can be ordered separately.

Solowheel Glide 3 / Inmotion V8 Electric Unicycle

The G3 is similar to the G2 but faster with a better range and speed. It can go up to 30km/h while you can travel up to 50 km in excellent conditions. It has a larger 16’’ wheel which gives more ground clearance with its higher pedals. It has a built-in handle to carry or pull on the go, unlike the G2.
The Glide 3's high pedals give you better maneuverability at higher speeds and a tight turning radius because you will be able to leverage the machine more. Glide 3's bright headlamp and APP adjustable side LED make it much better than the G2 in the lights department.
A very nice touch on the G3 there is also a mud-guard cover infront of the tire to prevent spraying on to the rider. Even though there is only a 5-pound difference between the G2 and G3, the G3 feels much more grounded while riding. While riding you can use your body weight to turn or ‘glide’ as opposed to more of a twisting-core action on the G2. The added weight and larger wheel also means you will feel smaller bumps less while riding.

TOP TIPS FOR NEW HOVERBOARD OWNERS

Top Tips For New Hoverboard Owners
In the name of Christmas, we will be going over our top tips and maintenance tricks for hoverboards. In this article you'll learn both how to ride the machine, as well as keeping your machine working its best.
Learning To Ride: If you or a loved on hasn’t ridden before it’s best to stand close to them when they are starting out. Have them place a hand on you and slowly step up one foot to the machine and get used to the movement. When they are comfortable, have them place the other foot on while looking up at you and still holding on for balance. After they are comfortable with this, have them do turn one way and then the other way. After this see if they can follow you around in a small figure-eight. They should be pro after that!
Water is the enemy: A bit of rain is okay to be driven in, but don’t be constantly driving your hoverboard through puddles as this will eventually lead to erosion or a dead battery.
Warm Storage: In the offseason, don’t store the machine in a cold area like a garage. This will kill the battery. Make sure you store it inside and charge it at least once a month even if you aren’t using it.
Charging Tips: Make sure that you’re lining up the prongs on the charger. On the charging port on the hoverboard and on the charger, you will notice a notch that must be lined up. Too often we hear about bent prongs from not knowing the proper way to plug in the charger. This can save you a lot of money, as it can ruin the entry port, and the charger.
Low Battery Beeps: When low battery beeping starts, it is best to charge right away. This means the machine is under 10-15% battery and is letting you know it could die. You don’t want to fall if the machine cuts out, so make sure you charge when this happens.
Re-calibrationSometimes the machine can become misaligned. When you think your machine might be broken or glitching, it could be as simple as resetting its balance. This can happen when your machine hits a sudden slope or simply over time. To reset, just hold the battery for 5 seconds while keeping the machine level. When it starts to beep, release and turn the machine back on. The gyro-balance will have been reset and ready to rock n’ roll.
Weight limit: The recommended weight limits of an average hoverboard will be between 65-250 pounds. Any more or less than this and the sensors will have a hard time activating. Especially, if the rider is lighter than 65 pounds, the machine could shake. If this does occur, having your feet spread out to the tire rims on each side can help the sensors activate.

And as always, you are welcome to come to the store to ask us about anything or test ride any device you'd like!
